Adventure seekers from across the region come to the Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area to experience towering sandstone cliffs and incredible climbing opportunities.
The area near Blue Heron Mining Community features approximately 35 established sport and traditional climbing routes, with an additional 20 routes just a short hike away. Climbs range from beginner-friendly challenges to advanced overhanging routes, making it a destination for climbers of many skill levels.
Whether you’re an experienced climber looking for your next adventure or simply enjoy watching others conquer the cliffs, Big South Fork offers yet another reason to explore McCreary County.
