Your home is being built in the Fôrt Hōmes factory, and we mean that literally. While a buyer's site is still being prepared, their home is already taking shape on our floor in Grand Junction, with walls up, rooms framed, and finishes going in.

You don't have to wait for the lot to be ready before the house can start, because the two happen at the same time. This video shows what that looks like from the inside.

This is The Ranch, taken apart the way we build it. The home is built in two sections with four modules: two lower boxes that hold the living space and two roof boxes that sit on top. All four come off our line in Grand Junction before they ever reach the site.

People tend to assume modular means a smaller or simpler house, and it doesn't. It means the house gets built somewhere better suited to building houses, then shipped and assembled on a permanent foundation.

That's one module of a home. On a trailer.

The Ranch left our Grand Junction factory this morning - one of four modules, headed up valley.

One thing worth being precise about, because it's the question we get most: this is an IRC home, not a HUD home. It's built to the same International Residential Code as any site-built home, it sits on a permanent foundation, and it gets assembled on site. The trailer is transport. Nothing more.

This week the foundation gets poured. Once it cures, we set the modules and put the home together.

Read that order again - the home was being built while the foundation was still being formed.

On a site build those two things happen back to back. Frame waits on foundation. One trade waits on the last one. Every week of weather and every hole in the labor schedule lands directly on your timeline. In a market this tight on workforce, that's where the months go.

Building indoors lets us run both critical paths at the same time. The factory doesn't care what the weather is doing in November, and nobody stands around waiting on concrete to cure.

Our target: permit in hand to certificate of occupancy in 45 days.

That's the real case for modular. Not that it's cheaper per square foot - that it collapses the calendar. And the calendar is what costs you money.

More than 7,000 households on the Western Slope earn between $75,000 and $131,000 a year — teachers, nurses, tradespeople — and cannot find a home they can actually afford to buy. Not for lack of trying. For lack of supply at that price.

That gap doesn't close with good intentions. It closes with production.

So we built a factory in Grand Junction. Controlled conditions, less waste, and roughly half the delivery time of site-built construction. Homes made here, by people who live here, for families who already work in this community.

The crew on our floor isn't working for an out-of-state buyer. They're building for their neighbors.

That's the whole point.There's a number that explains why we started building homes here.
