đź“Ł NEWS RELEASE: Wellington closes in on completion of AMI installation đź“Ł
The Town of Wellington is close to completing a multi-year Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) installation project designed to modernize the Town’s water metering system.
AMI is a modern water metering system that allows water usage information to be collected remotely rather than through traditional manual meter-reading methods. The system — which has become an industry-standard technology and is widely considered a best practice for modern water utility operations — provides expanded and more timely consumption information while improving customer service and utility operations.
Approximately two-thirds of Wellington's utility accounts were already upgraded through earlier phases of the project. Thanks to a grant from the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB), the remaining customers will transition to the new technology during this phase.
“The completion of Advanced Metering Infrastructure installation is a huge step forward for our Town,” Wellington Mayor Rebekka Dailey said. “Not only will it allow our staff to provide better service to Municipal Utility customers, it will also provide those customers with more robust information so they can make more informed decisions about their water usage. Thank you to CWCB for their support in helping to bring this project to fruition.”
