Idaho REALTORS® is pleased to celebrate a meaningful win for housing affordability and attainability in the Gem State. Governor Brad Little has signed into law two bills that will help open the door to homeownership and offer more options for more Idahoans.
Senate Bill 1352aa removes local restrictions that have long stood in the way of smaller, more affordable & attainable homes, giving builders the flexibility to develop "starter home subdivisions" designed with first-time buyers in mind. Senate Bill 1354aa strengthens property rights by allowing homeowners to build accessory dwelling units, creating new opportunities to expand housing supply in communities across Idaho.
Idaho REALTORS® is grateful to Sen. Toews and Rep. Redman for their dedication to finding free-market solutions to Idaho's housing challenges, and to Governor Little for signing both bills into law. This is a good day for anyone working toward the American Dream of owning a home in Idaho.
