Happy New Year!

2024 has brought some changes for me. I became a Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) and now work for Urban Monarch Management as a Community Association Manager. This new responsibility has many demands and I decided I could not continue as an active realtor for Greenridge Realty. I still work in the Caledonia Greenridge office, as Urban Monarch is affiliated with Greenridge. If you do have any real estate needs, I'd be happy to refer you to one of the many outstanding realtors working for Greenridge.

Mortgage rates are steady and are likely to stay steady in the coming months IMO. The anticipated Fed rate cuts appear to be baked into the current rates being offered.

With interest rates near 7%, I thought it might be worthwhile to share this post again. I would have loved to have a 7% mortgage back in 1982!

In 1982 I had been married for one year and wanted to move from renting to owning as we started our family. Trouble was mortgage rates were at historic highs averaging 16%. My wife and I were still determined to find a home for our future family and scraped together a down payment, mostly from the sale of my wife's car. We bought the townhouse shown below and lived there for five years. The equity we realized from owning this home helped us move to a wonderful home in a great neighborhood with a spacious backyard for our three growing sons. As a bonus in 1987 mortgage rates had dropped to 10% - whoopee! We still have fond memories of this townhouse and know that we made the right decision in buying it under what seemed like impossible circumstances.
