Had some good help this past weekend setting ties to a Section Corner.

I didn't know this was going to be in the paper, but a good article on an old corner monument I found approximately 8" below the surface on the northerly side of a wood corner fence post at the center of a section. The monument was a 16" by 16" square stone that became conical on the top with a 1" diameter hole drilled into the center of it. Stone monuments similar to these were often set by surveyors in earlier years instead of iron monuments, which surveyors currently use, because of the limited availability of iron monuments.

It isn’t often one hears Proverbs quoted at a county board meeting.
