What do Manchester City’s 115 charges have to do with real estate?
More than you might think.
Manchester City was recently found guilty by an independent commission of serious breaches of Premier League financial rules dating back to 2009/10 through 2017/18. The commission found that the club used commercial arrangements that artificially inflated reported revenues and reduced reported costs by more than £900 million.
Now, take football out of the equation for a second.
Real estate is also built on numbers, documentation, contracts and trust.
A deal can look great on the surface, but what matters is what is actually behind the numbers.
For real estate professionals, that means:
📑 Accurate paperwork matters.
💰 Financials need to tell the real story.
🤝 Trust is everything in a transaction.
🏗️ The structure behind a deal matters just as much as the finished product.
And that’s what makes this story so interesting to me.
Whether you’re running a Premier League football club or helping someone buy a home, the numbers and the paperwork have to match reality.
Sports and real estate may seem like completely different industries, but at the business level, there are some pretty interesting parallels.
