The heat can be dangerous for your pets, so be sure to follow these tips:
• In the car: bring food and a portable water bowl. Plan ahead to make rest stops, and keep the AC on or the windows cracked enough for airflow.
• On walks: Plan to walk your pets early in the morning or close to sunset to avoid long, direct heat exposure.
• Test the pavement: Place the back of your hand on the pavement. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for paws! Invest in some hot weather paw pads or walk in the shade.
• Keep them cool: Make homemade frozen treats from fruits or veggies, and keep them handy after playtime or walks.
*Be sure to consult your vet before feeding your pet something new.
