25 YEARS LATER, WE REMEMBER.

At The Block Natick and First Cambridge Realty Corp., we believe strongly in the importance of community - and on this 25th anniversary of September 11th, we pause to remember a moment when communities across our nation came together in extraordinary ways.

We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost and honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders, service members, volunteers, and everyday Americans who stepped forward to help others in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We remember the families forever changed, the communities that carried one another through the darkest days, and the remarkable compassion, resilience, and unity that followed.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor those we lost, those who served, and the enduring strength of community.

We will never forget.

REAL ESTATE TREND TUESDAY | 162 NEW AFFORDABLE HOMES FOR CAMBRIDGE

Cambridge is taking another step toward addressing its housing shortage. Governor Maura Healey recently announced $278 million in state and federal financing and tax credits for 29 housing projects across Massachusetts, including two 100% affordable developments in Cambridge.

The funding will help advance 162 permanently affordable homes - 67 units at Corcoran Park and 95 units on Wendell Street - with construction expected to begin in 2027.

Residents Come First. Always.

At FCRC, we’re constantly looking for ways to make our residents’ experience safer, easier, and more convenient.

That’s why we’ve upgraded the property access system at 5-7 Craigie Circle and 6-8 Craigie Circle in Cambridge with ButterflyMX.

Residents can now enjoy faster, more secure, video-integrated access - including the ability to manage entry, welcome guests, and handle deliveries right from their smartphones.

It’s another investment in the places our residents call home - because putting residents first means continually finding ways to make home better.

WELCOME BACK to BOSTON!

The students are back, the streets are busier, the coffee lines are longer - and suddenly every apartment building in the Boston area is a moving company.

To all the students returning to Boston, Cambridge and the surrounding communities: welcome back! We hope your semester is filled with great classes, new friends, unforgettable experiences - and a place to call home.

And a quick Boston PSA: don't get "Storrowed"...

If you're moving in, remember the cardinal rules:

-Check your moving truck's height.
-Know your route.
-Be very careful when it comes to driving your moving truck on Storrow Drive.

Because nothing says “Welcome to Boston!” quite like getting your moving truck wedged under a bridge and becoming tomorrow's traffic report.

FCRC is proud to be part of the Boston-area community you call home.

More Housing. Modern Standards. Safer Buildings.

A recent Cambridge Day article highlights Cambridge’s need for more multifamily housing - and an important opportunity that comes with new construction: building to today’s higher standards for fire safety, life safety and building performance.

New construction can incorporate modern fire protection systems, safer building materials, updated codes and other measures designed to better protect residents and first responders.

But safety doesn’t stop when a building is completed.

At First Cambridge Realty Corporation, responsible ownership means continuously maintaining our properties, keeping critical safety systems in working order and ensuring our buildings meet applicable fire, life-safety and building requirements.

Because when it comes to the places people call home, safety is always the priority.

Real Estate Trend Tuesday: Brookline is investing in more energy-efficient buildings - and renters could benefit, too.

The Town of Brookline has secured $175,000 in state grants to support energy-efficiency improvements in municipal buildings and help renters reduce energy use and costs. The funding comes through two competitive state programs and builds on Brookline’s broader efforts to improve building efficiency and advance sustainability.

For property owners and landlords, the momentum is worth watching.

Brookline already offers resources and incentives for weatherization, insulation, air sealing, heat pumps and other energy upgrades, with Mass Save incentives potentially covering a significant portion of eligible improvements.

As energy efficiency becomes an increasingly important consideration in real estate, investments like these could have an impact on both property value and tenant appeal.

REAL ESTATE TREND TUESDAY | A $40M Opportunity in Newton Centre

A major piece of Newton Centre is officially on the market.

After five decades of family ownership, all five properties comprising Piccadilly Square are being offered for sale - preferably as one portfolio. The properties are home to 40+ businesses, with most of the space currently leased.

The headline? A pricing guideline in the $40 million range.

But the opportunity goes beyond the existing income. With Newton’s Village Center Overlay District zoning, portions of the property could offer significant redevelopment potential, including additional height and housing opportunities.

For a buyer, Piccadilly Square represents a rare chance to acquire a long-standing, transit-oriented piece of one of Newton’s most vibrant village centers - with potential for what comes next.
