Are we headed for a housing correction?
First, let’s define what a correction is. A correction is defined as a 10% change in the price of an asset.

As can be seen from the last 6 recessions over the last 40 years, only one had a serious price decline which was subsequently the largest housing crash in US history.

Given the last 2 quarters negative GDP growth, we are likely headed into a recession, if we are not already in one.

Rising mortgage interest rates as well as a slight increase in housing inventory is likely to cause a slowing in home appreciation but not depreciation. The change will likely be from a blistering hot hot seller’s market to hot seller’s market rather than a seller’s market to a buyer’s market. Hope this is helpful!
