There will be a lot of 9/11 pictures today, but this picture is special to me. Most will look and only see the towers burning in the background, but not notice FDNY Ladder 118 crossing the Brooklyn Bridge. What struck me was that these six Men could clearly see the unimaginable destruction that had already been done that morning, knowing full well what could happen if they continued on. Continue on, they did, charging forward without hesitation. They saved countless mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters that day.

This was Ladder 118’s final run, as all six perished that day, knowing they had a job to do, and by god, they did it well.

Thank you to all who came before. We will never forget!
