The Fed says no cuts today…but are they wrong?

Here’s why they might not be:

Why the Fed didn’t cut interest rates today…and why that’s actually smart

Some people were hoping for lower interest rates, but the Federal Reserve decided to keep things steady. And honestly… (unpopular opion here), it’s the right call. Here’s why:

- Prices are still going up (inflation). Cutting rates now could make it worse.
- The job market is still strong—people are working and spending.
- The economy is growing again, so no need to panic. (GDP at 3%)
- New tariffs (extra taxes on goods) might make things more expensive, and the Fed wants to see how that plays out.
- They’re staying independent…not giving in to political pressure. (Premature rate cuts raises mortgage rates)

Translation: The Fed is being cautious so they don’t mess things up. If things cool off more in the next few months, then they might cut rates later this year.

Right now…there’s a 60% chance for a rate cut in September.

And remember, the Fed doesn’t set mortgage rates…bond investor apetite does.
