UPDATE:
✨ DIXIE IS SAFE — AND THIS IS WHY FOSTERS AND ADOPTERS MATTER ✨
Dixie is officially out of the shelter and safe with us at Road to Home Rescue Support 🤍
And it happened for one simple, powerful reason: someone said YES. YES to fostering. And YES to adopting.
Because a foster stepped up, Dixie didn’t have to spend another night confused and alone in a kennel.
Because an adopter opened their heart, Dixie already has an amazing forever family waiting for her.
Tomorrow, her foster will be taking Dixie to our local vet for bloodwork and a skin recheck. When she entered the shelter, her skin and ears were in rough shape — but now she’s finally getting the care, comfort, and consistency she’s been missing for far too long.
Dixie will stay with her wonderful foster until transport in about 2 weeks, when she begins the next chapter of her life.
✨ This is what happens when people say yes.
✨ This is how lives are saved — together.
If you’ve ever thought about being someone’s yes — whether as a foster or an adopter — please fill out an application today. We’ll help match you with your new best friend. 🐶💙

And don’t forget to follow along right here to continue Dixie’s journey as she heads home.
Thank you to the foster and adopter who made this rescue possible. Because of you, Dixie is safe. 🤍
Safe with us. Always.
Meet Dixie. She didn’t choose this ending — and it doesn’t have to be her story.
Dixie is approximately 8 years old and weighs 28 pounds. Her owner passed away, leaving Dixie and two other dogs behind, living alone in a camper. A kind neighbor fed them for a short time, but eventually Animal Control had no choice but to bring them to a shelter already bursting at the seams.
Now Dixie sits in a kennel, confused and grieving the only life she’s ever known — through no fault of her own.
Despite everything, Dixie is incredibly sweet.
Years of neglect left her skin and ears in poor condition. She will need continued TLC, including medicated baths twice a week and regular ear care. This is extremely manageable care — what Dixie truly needs is consistency, kindness, and someone willing to commit.
