This aerial photograph captures Harney Point Road, long before it became the busy Del Prado Boulevard. At the time, the area was largely undeveloped, with wide-open land stretching as far as the eye could see.

In the early days, much of this land was owned by the Matlacha Cattle Company, which held more than 25,000 acres. Cattle farming played a major role in the area, and longtime residents remember a time when it wasn’t unusual to see cows roaming freely across local roads.

It’s a powerful reminder of just how much Cape Coral has transformed in a relatively short time.
