The summer crowds start to fade, the air gets cooler, the sunsets get even better, and the town takes on a completely different kind of charm.

Drive a little north and suddenly you’re in Wildwood, where the boardwalk, beaches, neon signs, and classic Jersey Shore energy bring back that feeling of summer no matter how old you are.

Today, Cape May Scout pauses to remember September 11, 2001.

Twenty five years later, we remember the lives that were lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans who answered tragedy with incredible courage.

We also remember the way our country came together in the days that followed. Different backgrounds, different beliefs, one nation standing together.

May we never forget the victims.
May we never forget the heroes.
May we never forget the strength of the American spirit.

Yes, you read that right.

Cape May is in the running for Hallmark’s Merriest Christmas Town, and the winning town could become the filming location for a future Hallmark original movie!

And seriously… is there a town more perfect for it? ❤️

Victorian homes covered in Christmas lights. Washington Street Mall decorated for the holidays. Horse-drawn carriages. Cozy restaurants. The ocean just a few blocks away.

Cape May already looks like a Hallmark Christmas movie. 🎄✨

Cape May isn’t just a beautiful beach destination—it’s a living piece of American history. 🌊🏖️

Widely recognized as America’s first seaside resort, Cape May welcomed visitors from Philadelphia seeking coastal recreation as early as 1761. Its history, charm, and incredible Victorian architecture make every stroll through town feel like stepping back in time.

A few milestones that shaped this iconic shore town:

- 1761: Cape May emerged as America’s original seashore vacation destination.
- 1851: Officially incorporated as a city.
- 1878: A devastating fire destroyed much of the town, leading to the remarkable Victorian-era rebuild we admire today.
- 1976: Designated a National Historic Landmark for its extraordinary collection of 19th-century Victorian homes and buildings.

From colorful “painted ladies” and historic inns to sunsets over the water, Cape May continues to be one of New Jersey’s most special places.
