I mostly pay attention to local market data, but it’s good to stay in touch with the national trends too. While I’m not quite as enthusiastic about 2026 for our Southern California market, this gives a little hope! Also, there’s a good formula for price reductions or making reduced offers towards the end of this article, ie, 5% cut within the first 2 weeks and up to a 14% cut when the home is over 120 days on the market.

Looking at October stats for San Diego and Ventura County, we see the real estate market is stable, with a slight decrease in pricing in San Diego. The “Days on the Market” is increasing, so sellers need to be patient. And buyers can be happy about price reductions in roughly 40% of all listings! Leaving Cabo San Lucas after a thoroughly relaxing stay (minus a little bit of work for the community council ☺️). We stayed at Grand Fiesta Americana outside of town - lovely people and delicious food! And took one excursion to Cabo Wabo Cantina and a glass bottom boat tour. Nice to reconnect with my honey since we both have busy schedules!

This is crazy! But it hit me that this is the reason why so many of my girlfriends, single and married, feel like we aren’t as savvy financially as men. There’s still a gap because our mothers and grandmothers had very little knowledge and control over their finances. We are breaking that cycle and hopefully raising our daughters differently. In my 40’s, I took a two-day Retirement Planning class at the community college. It was life changing. There are great books out there too. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and learn!
