As I continue to celebrate many different types of holidays, I am always amazed at the history behind their origin. National First Responders Day can be traced to the death of 26 year old Sean Collier. He was the officer who was tragically shot and killed by the two men responsible for the Boston Marathon Bombing in 2013. Collier's brother immediately began advocating for the creation of the holiday and it took until 2019 for the bill to officially pass in both the Senate and the House.

There are so many ways to show gratitude for the dedication and hard work that all of our first responders put into serving our communities. Through the use of kind words and gestures, provide meals to them and their families, or even pay it forward while out and about!

Let's think of something new this year. This is especially for those in my community who either are one, or have loved ones who risk everything to to serve our community.....what is something you would love to see as a form of gratitude this year???? I want to let the world know!

Happy International Sloth Day! Surprisingly there is a lot that sloths can teach us — respect, tenderness, and joy.

Amazingly sloths can swim three times faster than they can walk on land! Also because of their ability to slow their heart rates to one-third its normal rate, they can also hold their breath for a whopping 40 minutes under water!!

The holiday of Alaska Day commemorates the day in 1867 when the United States purchased the land we call Alaska from Russia. There are plenty of stories that hold a colorful history on the holiday if you choose to search for it...

Many of you do not know this about me, I basically grew up in Alaska (from Middle School - H.S. Graduation and on). Learning to drive in the ice and snow was definitely interesting and very enlightening, but I sure do still hold some traditions solid even though my new home is here in the Lower 48.

What traditions do you hold near and dear to your upbringing? What is your favorite memory of your teenage years? What crazy habits did you inherit simply because of where you grew up? I cannot wait to comment on these....
