Seventeen years have passed, yet it doesn’t feel like time has moved that far at all.
On April 4th, 2009, Officers Paul Sciullo II, Stephen Mayhle, and Officer Eric Kelly put on the uniform and answered a call. It was a duty they answered without hesitation, driven not by recognition or headlines, but by an unwavering commitment to protect our community. In that moment, they made the ultimate sacrifice, leaving a void that Pittsburgh continues to feel.
Their story isn’t just about how they were lost; it’s about how they lived. It is a story of service, of profound sacrifice, and of the kind of courage that standardizes our belief in public service. We carry their memory in our hearts, in our prayers, and in the profound respect we show for the badge they wore with honor.
Pittsburgh does not forget its own. We look at a badge today and truly understand what it means.
Seventeen years later, and still, we remember.
