For a solid 7 years in a row, I would wake up at 4:30am. My gym class started at 5. Iâd be back home at 6 to shower and seize the day, which meant walking out the door by 7:45 for work. My entire day was a rush.
Well, Iâm not sure if itâs retirement or menopause, but somewhere along the way my days and nights got flipped. I can stay up with the best of them, but I can no longer get my butt out of bed in the mornings. It ainât happening, folks.
So when my hubby heard Boâs PT appointment was at 8am, he immediately turned into a comedian. His exact words were, âI canât wait to watch this happen.â
Yâall, the disrespect. đ
So naturally, I reminded him of my gym days⌠all those years of getting up at 4:30.
And without missing a beat, he said, âAnd who knew it would cause you to be exhausted THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.â
And listen⌠it mustâve been one of those âyou had to be thereâ moments, because we laughed and laughed. And I wonât even try to deny it. The shoe fits, folks.
But later, as I was thinking about it⌠isnât that kind of how life feels sometimes?
You run hard in one seasonâŚ
You give everything youâve gotâŚ
You show up, pour out, push throughâŚ
And then one day, you look up and think, âWhy am I so tired?â Not just physically but deep down in your soul.
And maybe the answer isnât that youâve done something wrong. Maybe itâs just that youâve been carrying more than you were ever meant to carry alone.
Because God never asked us to run ourselves into the ground trying to hold everything together. He simply said, âCome to Me⌠and I will give you rest.â
Not guilt.
Not pressure.
Not âtry harder tomorrow.â
Rest.
So if youâre tired today, like bone-tired, soul-tired, canât-get-out-of-bed tired, maybe itâs not weakness. Maybe itâs an invitation.
To slow down.
To let go.
To stop proving⌠and start trusting.
Because the same God who calls you to walk in purpose also calls you to rest in His presence.
And friend, rest isnât quitting. Sometimes, itâs the most faithful thing you can do.
âCome to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.â Matthew 11:28
