Canadian tech millionaire Marcel LeBrun has launched the "12 Neighbours" project in Fredericton, New Brunswick, to combat homelessness. By investing millions of his own wealth, he has overseen the development of 99 tiny homes designed to provide permanent, affordable housing for those in need within a supportive community setting.
Each 240-square-foot unit is fully equipped with a private kitchen, bathroom, and porch, along with solar panels to improve energy efficiency. Residents pay a subsidized rent of approximately $200 per month, allowing them to live with independence and financial stability while maintaining a high standard of living.
Beyond providing a roof, the project focuses on long-term success through onsite workshops, community gardens, and specialized job programs. This holistic approach prioritizes dignity and skill-building, offering residents a path toward social reintegration and the opportunity to build a stable future within a thriving neighborhood.
