In this phase, we shall continue with what is entailed with getting your own home. These include:
The search – where you get a feel for availability, neighborhood, school for kids if you have any;
The price – from simply qualifying for the pre-approval, to also finding prices in the range of the pre-approval;
Financing it – including getting a loan and one or more mortgages; to
Final occupancy – when you finally move in and settle down! We shall take a look at each of these stages in due time.

One sure fact is that you need a home, right? It can be your own home, or it can be a rented home. It does not matter whether you are self-employed or working for another, you just need a home. Renting a place is a little easier, but buying a home is a major commitment. Since, buying a home for most people is usually and often the largest financial commitment they may make in their lives, it is important to sleep over this one…………….

How far should you live away from work? The average time to commute to work provided by everyday people is 30 minutes. Some people have taken time to do actual studies on this topic. Initially, I thought I was in for a big joke, when I read that the further away you live from work, the bigger your house or apartment should be! Anyway, the truth is that people are smart enough to weigh their options and seem to average out at between 20 minutes and 30 minutes of commute time. (The range is anywhere from 2 minutes to an hour plus).

Regardless of the tight correlation between population and commute time (where metros that have larger populations also have longer average commute times), the differences between metros and smaller towns were not that pronounced. These still include the fact that people choose where to lived based upon neighborhood characteristics, schools, and safety and not just based on commute times. What’s astonishing is that this window of commute time, spans the globe – at least for the developed countries.
