01/03/2025
As we close the chapter on 2024, I couldn’t help but draw inspiration from Roger Federer’s unique commencement speech at Dartmouth College this year. It got me thinking: we’ve all graduated from 2024—passed the tests, learned the lessons, and are stepping into 2025 filled with possibilities. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s worth a read!
One part of Roger’s speech struck me: the idea of lost points. He shared that in his career, he won 80% of his matches played, but only won 54% of all points played—even as one of the greatest players of all time. Champions like Federer (& Bjorn Borg) mastered the mindset of focusing on the current point and moving forward, no matter the challenges or missed opportunities.
He said:
“When you’re playing a point, it is the most important thing in the world. But when it’s behind you, it’s behind you… This mindset frees you to fully commit to the next point with intensity, clarity, and focus.”
That resonates with me in life and real estate. Buying or selling a home comes with challenges—unexpected inspections, tough negotiations, or deals that don’t go as planned. But staying focused, composed, and prepared can make all the difference. My job is to help you navigate those moments with calm and confidence—and maybe even win a few points you thought were lost.
Personally, I’m stepping into 2025 with new goals. One big one? Reducing time on social media. Instead, I’m focusing on being intentional with my time and launching something exciting: a YouTube (or Rumble) channel to share insights and advice—without the “commission breath” you might expect. I’ll let you know when it’s live.
As we tackle 2025 together, I’d love to hear your goals for the year. What’s one thing you’re hoping to accomplish? Let me know—I’d love to cheer you on!
Wishing you a fantastic start to 2025 and many “points won” in the year ahead.
