If you’re looking for a place that captures the heart of North Carolina, the North Carolina State Farmers Market is one of my favorite spots to visit in the Triangle!
One of the things I love most is the variety of fresh, local, seasonal products all in one place. I’m a big fan of fresh fruits and vegetables, so I love walking through the market without a set shopping list and seeing what looks good that day. Depending on the season, you’ll find everything from strawberries and peaches to apples, cucumbers, tomatoes, fresh herbs, and local honey. It’s also a great place to shop for locally sourced items for the holidays, browse artisan vendors, and discover something new.
For our family, the Farmers Market is more than just a place to shop. Sean and I love bringing the kids, letting them explore the vendors and pick out a fresh pastry or treat, and finishing the morning with breakfast at the Farmers Market Restaurant. It’s become a little family tradition that gives us a chance to slow down and enjoy time together.
I also love that every visit can look a little different. Weekday mornings are perfect if you want to take your time browsing, while weekends have a busier, lively atmosphere that makes it feel like a fun family outing. Most importantly, visiting gives you the opportunity to support local North Carolina farmers, growers, food producers, and small businesses all in one stop.
Whether you’re a longtime local or new to the Triangle, the Farmers Market is such a great way to experience the local community, enjoy what’s in season, and spend a morning doing something a little different. Definitely worth adding to your list of local favorites!
