🏡 IF I HAD TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN… THIS IS WHAT I’D DO.

Buying your first home is exciting, but there are definitely a few things you wish someone had told you sooner.

If I were buying my first home again, here’s what I’d focus on:

🔑 Choose your REALTOR® early.
Having someone guide you through financing, contracts, inspections, negotiations and closing can make the process a whole lot less overwhelming.

🔑 Talk to a lender BEFORE you start house hunting.
Know your buying power and what your monthly payment could realistically look like.

🔑 Ask about down payment assistance.
You may not need as much money saved as you think. There are programs that can help qualified buyers with down payment and closing costs.

🔑 Don’t shop at the very top of your budget.
Leave yourself room for utilities, maintenance, repairs and, well… life.

🔑 Don’t wait for the “perfect” house.
Your first home doesn’t have to be your forever home. Focus on what works for your needs and budget right now.

🔑 Get the inspection.
That cute house can have some very un-cute problems hiding behind the walls.

And probably the biggest lesson?

Don’t assume you can’t buy until you’ve actually explored your options.
