Whenever I tell people I’m originally from Florida, one of the first things they ask is:

“Wow… and you gave THAT up for Wyoming? Why?”

It’s one of those things where, if you don’t understand it, it’s not always easy to explain.

Beaches are nice. Palm trees are nice. Wearing shorts in January is nice.

But beaches don’t raise your kids.

I got tired of the overcrowding. The traffic. The constant development. The noise. The violent crime and the feeling that everything was getting busier, more congested and more chaotic every year.

And honestly, having to circle a Publix parking lot for 30 minutes just to buy groceries wasn’t exactly my idea of a good time either. 😂

We wanted something different for our family.

More space.
More quiet.
More room for our kids to just be kids.
Mountains instead of endless subdivisions.
Wildlife wandering through the neighborhood.
Open roads where you can drive for miles without sitting bumper-to-bumper.

Wyoming isn’t perfect.

The wind will humble you. Winter can be brutal. Some things are hours away. There are conveniences we gave up, and there are definitely things I still miss about Florida.

But for our family, Wyoming is it.

We traded beaches for mountains.
Traffic for open roads.
Crowds for space.
And a lifestyle that feels a whole lot more like the one we wanted our kids growing up in.

Sometimes people ask what Wyoming has that Florida doesn’t.

For us? Room to breathe.

And apparently… a whole lot of antelope. 😂

If you’re new here, hi! I’m Alexander Lexington. I share what life is really like in Wyoming, the places that make this state so incredible, and why I think it’s one of the best places in the country to call home.

I’m also a Wyoming Realtor with eXp Realty, helping people buy and sell homes, land and acreage all across the state.

You don’t have to live in the middle of town to stay close to everything you need.

Some of the best places to live in Wyoming are the smaller communities just outside our larger towns. You can have more breathing room, less traffic and a quieter way of life while still being within reach of shopping, healthcare, schools and work.

I moved to Wyoming from FL and have lived in Sheridan, Casper and the surrounding area since. Now I help people from across the country figure out which part of Wyoming actually fits the life they’re trying to build.

It’s International Burger Day, and there’s no better reason to support one of Casper’s most unique local restaurants before it closes its doors for good. 🍔💔

Little Shop of Burgers will permanently close on August 30 after serving Casper since September 2018.

For nearly eight years, this family-owned restaurant has given Casper far more than horror-themed décor and wildly named burgers. They’ve also supported our community through their free sack-lunch program and year-round POW/MIA table.

Let’s show up for them during their final days. Stop in, grab your favorite burger and help send this Casper original out with the support it deserves.
What was your favorite thing on the menu?

📍1040 N. Center Street, Casper

The soft-close drawers may be nice, but they won’t matter much if the water pressure sucks, your phone has no service and the neighbor’s dog barks all day.

The pretty finishes are easy to notice. The things that actually affect your everyday life usually aren’t.

Slow down. Open the windows. Run the faucets. Listen to what’s happening outside. Pay attention to the natural light, the yard drainage and whether the layout makes sense for how you actually live.

And above everything else, notice how you feel inside the home. A house can check every box on paper and still not feel like the right one.

Buying anywhere in Wyoming? Let’s find the home that looks good, works well and feels right.

If you want fewer neighbors and more mountains, Bondurant might be calling your name.

Population: 108
Elevation: 6,598 feet

Located in the Hoback Basin between Jackson and Pinedale, Bondurant is surrounded by some of western Wyoming’s most incredible mountain country. The Hoback River runs through the area, while Bridger-Teton National Forest provides access to millions of acres for fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and winter recreation.

This little community has deep ranching roots and was named after B.F. Bondurant, who established a ranch in the area around 1900. Its historic log church, St. Hubert the Hunter, was completed in 1941 with help from local residents and money raised by selling a donated diamond.

Bondurant is also no stranger to a real Wyoming winter. One of the lowest temperatures ever recorded here was 57 degrees below zero.

It’s quiet, remote and surrounded by mountains, yet Jackson is still roughly an hour away.

Could you live in a Wyoming town this small?

That song hits a little differently when you actually packed up your family and left.

Leaving Florida for Wyoming was one of the hardest decisions we ever made.

We left behind everything familiar. Family, friends, routines, business connections and the comfort of knowing exactly what tomorrow would look like.

There was no guarantee it would work.

We just knew we wanted a different life for our family, and if we kept waiting for the “perfect time,” we might never leave.

So we did it.

We packed up our family, moved across the country and started rebuilding our lives in Wyoming.

It was scary. It was expensive. It was incredibly hard.

It was also one of the best decisions we have ever made.

Buffalo is one of those places that reminds me why we took that chance. A real small town with a historic downtown, a strong community and the Bighorn Mountains rising right outside of town.

If you’ve been dreaming about leaving the city and building a different life in Wyoming, I understand how big that decision feels because we lived it ourselves.

You don’t need to have every detail figured out today. You just need a plan and the courage to take the first step.
