This is my favorite picture Iā€™ve ever taken in Wyoming. It was around 6 a.m., the first time I drove through Bondurant, on my way to meet a client.

I was still near the beginning of my journey as a relocation Realtor. I remember driving through this amazing town so early in the morning, seeing the mountains and that eagle on the fence, and thinking, ā€œWow, I get to be here.ā€ I felt so thankful to be making that drive.

It was one of those moments that made everything click. This is what I wanted to do: explore Wyoming, help people discover what different parts of the state are like, and help them find a home and their own Wyoming life.

This is a true small town... Population: 5.

A railroad stop, a hotel that burned down, and a whole lot of Wyoming history.

Arminto is one of those places you could drive past without realizing how much history is tied to it. This small community west of Casper started as a stop on the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. It even incorporated in 1915, back when Wyomingā€™s unincorporated towns couldnā€™t sell liquor.

The post office closed in 1964, and the old Big Horn Hotel is gone. But Arminto is still there, with a few occupied buildings and a story connected to the railroad, ranching, and the natural gas industry.

If youā€™ve ever spent half your life sitting in rush-hour traffic, you know why Wyoming driving feels like a whole different world.

I moved here from Florida, where a quick trip could mean packed highways, brake lights, and timing everything around rush hour. Now I get in the car, head down an open Wyoming road, and remember how much I appreciate the change. Wyoming has its own version of traffic, but Iā€™ll take it over bumper-to-bumper any day.

This started as a frustrating drive behind two trucks hauling cars. Then I noticed a semi behind me, and on an uphill stretch, he pulled out to pass all of us. I donā€™t think he realized there were two trucks ahead of me.

He was driving completely blind over the hill. I slowed down and hung back, just praying nobody would be coming the other way. Thank God there wasnā€™t. It could have ended in tragedy.

Getting stuck behind them was annoying. Watching that semi try to pass us on a blind uphill stretch was the WORST moment Iā€™ve had driving in Wyoming.

A few weeks ago, our daughter wanted a cockatiel, so we took a trip to Birdie Bayou in Casper. We went in thinking we knew what we were looking for.

Then we met Cash.

We didnā€™t know anything about eclectus parrots, but we couldnā€™t get over how calm and chill he was. With a curious 2-year-old in the house, temperament mattered a lot to us. The more time we spent with Cash, the more we felt like he was the one.

We walked in looking for a cockatiel for our daughter and came home with a 7-month-old eclectus parrot. Now heā€™s part of the family, and weā€™re excited to watch him grow up alongside our kiddos. šŸ˜ƒ
