Two birthdays in our house today!

Kiley and Makayla graduated high school last spring and are both in college now.

Watching these two grow into the young women they are has been one of the best parts of my life. They are smart, they are funny, and they are making their own way, which is all you can ask for.

Happy birthday, girls. Your mom and I are proud of you.

There's a house going up in Potranco Acres right now, and this is honestly our favorite stage to show off. Not because it's finished. Because it isn't.

497 James Way is in the framing stage this week, which means you can walk in and see the bones of it. The arched entry that becomes a barrel ceiling. The lines where the coffered living room opens into the game room. The spot where the covered patio meets a full acre of backyard. Right now it's studs, sawdust, and a whole lot of "picture it right here."

Dad has been doing this for 37 years and he still stops mid-walk to point up at a ceiling line and tell you exactly what it's going to look like. We have heard the speech. It is a good speech.

Happy 4th of July from my family to yours.

Today is a good day to slow down, fire up the grill, and be grateful for the people gathered around your table. Freedom, family, and a place to call home. That is what this day is about, and it is what I get to be part of every single day in this work.

However you are spending it, whether that is a backyard cookout, a lake day, or just a quiet afternoon in the shade, I hope it is a good one. Stay safe out there tonight.
