Turtle Caramel Cake 😋
Ingredients:
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 cups chopped pecans
¾ cup unsalted sweet cream butter, melted
½ cup evaporated milk
1 (11 oz) bag caramel bits
1 box German chocolate cake mix
1 cup whole milk
3 large eggs
â…“ cup canola oil
1 container of chocolate fudge frosting
Directions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.
Prepare the Cake Batter:
In a large bowl, mix together the German chocolate cake mix, whole milk, eggs, and canola oil until smooth.
Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 15 minutes.
Prepare the Caramel Layer:
While the cake is baking, combine the caramel bits and evaporated milk in a medium saucepan over low heat.
Stir continuously until the caramel bits are completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
Add the Caramel and Chocolate Chips:
Remove the partially baked cake from the oven. Pour the melted caramel evenly over the top.
Sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 cup of chopped pecans over the caramel layer.
Add the Remaining Batter:
Pour the remaining cake batter over the caramel and chocolate chip layer, spreading it evenly.
Bake the Cake:
Return the cake to the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool and Frost:
Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
Once cooled, spread the chocolate fudge frosting evenly over the top of the cake.
Add the Final Touches:
Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of chopped pecans over the frosted cake.
Optionally, drizzle additional melted caramel and chocolate over the top for extra decadence.
Serve:
