Vincent Van Gogh said “Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.” As you drive down Main Street take a peek down 1st Ave North to see an example. After 2 years of planning and fundraising you’ll see a new mural on the south side of the Vantage Point Nutrition building. We always thought the large white rectangular building was a great blank canvas to showcase local art on, so we’re excited to see those dreams come to fruition. Banners reading “Glad to be here in Cavalier” frame a timeless monochromatic night scene of Cavalier’s Main Street. The mural was designed and completed by local artist and muralist Kayla Huber. She lives in Walhalla where her husband Clint is the Social Studies teacher. They have 5 children with a 6th on the way. She worked late nights and weekends in all sorts of weather to complete the project over the last 6 weeks. We’re grateful for her willingness to use her talent to beautify our community.

Like so many projects in small towns, the completion of this project “took a village.” We’d like to thank the 19 individuals who gave monetary donations, Cavalier Do it Best Home & Lumber for discounted paint, the Jami Seng family for use of scaffolding and Brad Holen for use of a bucket truck. The project was largely crowdfunded and is not quite fully funded yet. Show your support for this public art project by donating through the Go Fund Me account

IT'S CRUNCH TIME...and we need your help! Sunday is the day the mural making process begins! Good afternoon! For those curious as to what wall of our building we are hoping to display a mural on: This photo shows it. The wall faces Main Street.

We would love to partner with the Cavalier community in raising money for the beautiful new mural, created and painted by local artist Kayla Huber of Walhalla. $4,000 will cover costs for paint, lift rental and artist fees. The work will be complete in June 2024. We have had likes and shares on Facebook, though only a few donations at this point. You can donate money through the Go Fund Me account link below. We are offering up the wall on our building that faces Main Street so that it can be enjoyed by everyone in the community, and travelers passing through our city.
