🌟 Exciting Day with Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa at Poyner Elementary School! 📚

Thrilled to share my incredible experience volunteering with Junior Achievement at Poyner Elementary School couple of weeks ago! 🏫

Spent half a day diving into fascinating discussions about career and work readiness with a group of bright and curious 5th graders.

It was my first time stepping into the classroom as a volunteer, and what an amazing journey it turned out to be! Witnessing the enthusiasm and engagement of these young minds was truly inspiring. The energy and curiosity in the room were contagious, and it warmed my heart to see ideas sparking in their heads.

Junior Achievement's commitment to empowering young minds and fostering a love for learning is commendable.

A huge shoutout to the dedicated team at Junior Achievement for creating such impactful programs and for giving volunteers like myself the chance to make a positive impact in the lives of these students. Also, thank you to Ms. Thompson and all the para's that helped me that day.

What a great organization and cause the Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa is.

What is Junior Achievement?

Junior Achievement has over 100 local JA Areas across the nation, and together we are the nation's largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their futures, and make smart academic and economic choices. JA's programs—in the core content areas of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy—ignite the spark in young people to experience and realize the opportunities and realities of work and life in the 21st century.

Program Reach

Nationally, Junior Achievement reaches over 3 million students per year in 127,817 classrooms and after-school locations. JA programs are taught by volunteers in inner cities, suburbs, and rural areas throughout the United States, by over 100 Area Offices in all 50 states.

There are different ways we can help our community and I am excited to explore those options in the near future.

Today I had the pleasure of sitting down with Katelyn Tungland, Regional Director of Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa, to discuss the importance of community involvement and more importantly the importance of equipping our youth with the necessary skills and knowledge as they grow into young adults and enter the "real world".

Providing hands-on learning experiences to our youth is a great way to help them learn and acquire the skills needed to be successful and better prepared for the future.

Our shelters are in desperate need of towels, specifically body towels for use after showering or bathing. New or gently used towels are welcome. Donations can be brought to our main office location at 89 Franklin Street or dropped off at either the Men's or Women's shelters. Any donations are greatly appreciated.

Our first agent meeting is in the books.

Thank you, Trish Doolan, Realtor at EXP Realty for organizing the meeting, and thanks to all that made time to come out to Cabin Coffee Co. - Waterloo, IA today.

The conversation and feedback around Keys for Cause were very uplifting and encouraging. I was interested in hearing agent stories about wanting to give back and get more involved in the community but simply didn't know how to go about it.

Agents love the idea of being able to pick which organization they want to support.

Why does this matter?

This assures both the agent and their client that the effort is going back into the community they live and work in.

I anticipate we're going to see our agent community grow within this program and we'll be sure to share our progress as well go.

PS - I've had nonprofit organizations reach out to me regarding this program in an effort to learn more and to see how they can help as well. I would be happy to set up a time with anyone and answer more questions.
