Due to a last minute cancellation I’ll be speaking at the Cedar Valley Historic Society tonight! Sharing my Top 10 Most Interesting Things About the Dunsmore House — Waterloo’s 160-year-old limestone landmark at 902 Logan.

I’ve got fresh ideas, fresh photos, and a few teasers:

🧈 Was it a creamery?
There’s a strange 7-year gap right after the Civil War where nobody can prove what the house actually was. One unsigned 1950s letter to the Courier claimed it was a “creamery in 1869” —

🏠 Why “Dunsmore” if Thomas Chadwick built it?
A Scottish railroad man arrived seven years later, and somehow his name stuck for the next 153 years. Tough break, Tom. 😅
