C and L Home Inspections was birthed out of the derecho that devastated many homes in the Cedar Rapids area in 2020. After the storm, many people contacted us to inspect their properties. When disaster hit and the only thing left to rely on were relationships built on trust, people knew that they could count on us to help them plan their next steps in rebuilding their lives. It was during this pro
cess when we realized our passion for helping others, and that our skills could be used to continue to help people to improve, rebuild, and relocate. The owners of C and L Home Inspections have a combined 40+ years of experience in the building trades. About Chris Sawyer:
"I am carpenter by trade with 19 years' experience. I built custom homes before venturing into the commercial market. The tools I have acquired through the years help me see things from a builder's perspective. These tools help me not only to build or maintain a property, but also help me in avoiding problems down the road. My goals in the inspection are to assess the quality of the structure and look for potential problems that may come to be of concern in the future." About Luke Leaven:
"I am a licensed Class-A journeyman electrician in the state of Iowa. I have been a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) local 405 for more than 18 years. Prior to this I worked for various contractors for 2 years building and remodeling homes. During my time as a tradesman, I have learned the skills necessary to perform my craft according to local building codes, the National Electric Code (NEC), and the National Fire Protection Agency 70E (NFPA 70E). I enjoy working with people and using my skills to help others better their lives. I believe our relevant experience and our continued education is what sets us apart from other inspectors."
