Most homeowners have a junk drawer. Smart homeowners also have a house email address.

Create an email address just for your home ([email protected], for example) and send every receipt, warranty, contractor invoice, paint color, appliance manual, repair record, and renovation detail there.

New HVAC? Email it there.

New roof? Email it there.

Paint colors? Email them there.

Water heater replacement? Email it there.

Five years from now, when you’re trying to remember who installed the roof or what color paint is in the living room, you’ll know exactly where to find it.

And when it’s time to sell, you’ll have a complete digital history of your home instead of digging through drawers, old emails, and mystery folders.

This is one of those simple homeowner hacks that takes five minutes to set up and can save you hours later.
