Do you remember when this was Sears?

The massive building, now Dick's House of Sport, sat empty for nearly seven years after Sears closed in 2018. But long before that, Sears was one of the original anchor stores at Lindale Plaza when it opened in 1960.

A lot has changed over the years, but one thing hasn't: Lindale continues to reinvent itself.

🌈 Have you ever wondered about the colorful homes along I-380?

Known as Rainbow Row, this unique neighborhood on M Street SW was created by the same local developer behind Cedar Rapids’ original Rainbow House.

The vision was more than just bright colors. Rainbow Row was designed as a “pocket neighborhood”—a community focused on shared green spaces, gathering areas, and bringing neighbors together. The colorful homes were intentionally chosen to create something different from the typical subdivision and add a little more personality to Cedar Rapids.

Now it’s become one of the most recognizable neighborhoods in the city.
