The lodge is situated in a peaceful, serene pastoral setting at 7,800′ elevation. The Spring, Summer and Fall seasons are characterized by warm, low-humidity days, cool-mountain-air evenings. Traffic is minimal. It is just a 15-minute drive to world-class rock climbing and spectacular hiking at a variety of skill levels in the secluded recreation preserve, Penitente Canyon. e you can be fishing in the Rio Grande River or swimming in the nearby natural hot springs pool and hot tub. Also nearby are two wildlife preserves. It is only 40 minutes to Great Sand Dunes National Park or the rugged creek-side North Crestone trail. 60 minutes will get you to the Wolf Creek Pass Ski Area, or 75 minutes to river rafting on the Arkansas or Rio Grande Rivers, site seeing at the historic Creede mining resurrected ghost town, and the Monarch Pass Ski Area.
