One of our favorite stories to tell about Nashville's Big Back Yard is the story of small business growth! The town of Centerville, TN is celebrating the expansion of Farmers Friend - a farm-based business specializing in the development and distribution of quality tools and equipment for small farmers. Founded by Jonathan Dysinger, the company recently left the 6,000 square foot facility it started in for a spectacular 35,000 square foot warehouse where they make and package products including their popular Quick-Cut Greens Harvester and high tunnels.

Chief Operating Officer Nick Massey said Farmers Friend explored other counties in Tennessee to start and grow their business, but settled on Hickman County because of its supportive business environment. Farmers Friend's products inspire small farms that are practicing regenerative agriculture across the country and globe with some of their customers living as far as Australia, India, and Sweden!

We love seeing our small businesses succeed here in Nashville's Big Back Yard!

Did you know that you can get a grant for a Farmers Friend caterpillar tunnel? That's right, there is money available to help with this purchase! ๐Ÿ’ฐ

Many of our customers qualify for NRCS grants - here is one of them .

"Wanna guess what we will be doing this week? If you guessed building high tunnels, you are correct! We were blessed to receive a NRCS High Tunnel Grant (Natural Resources Conservation Service) this year. We ordered our high tunnels from and will be assembling them in the coming days. This will give us another 1,500sqft of growing space! We are stoked (and also slightly nervous) to build these beauties on our farm.

If youโ€™re a farmer interested in adding high tunnels to your operation - reach out to your local FSA/NRCS office to see if you qualify."

Thanks for sharing your experience !
