It's colder than a well digger’s ass in the Klondike today 🥶
People ask me about my fireplace a lot so here’s the real rundown.
Pros are insane heat with very little ongoing cost if you’ve got access to firewood. Cons are it’s messy hauling wood inside. What most folks don’t see is the planning. Truss layout had to be extended, structural support added for clearances, and the chimney had to be placed and flashed correctly so it sheds water and still looks right on the roof.
About $27k for the unit, ductwork, chimney, and install, plus another $3k in stonework and $1k for the concrete non-combustible mantle. It definitely isn’t an easy install, but on days like this I’d do it again. It’s absolutely the cat’s meow 🔥
Stay warm out there!
