The 16th Annual Hybrids for Profit Bull & Female sale was held April 11 at Aberdeen Livestock, Aberdeen, South Dakota. Hybrids for Profit is a combined effort of Justin Holt Cattle, Wessington Springs, SD; Rock ChiAngus, Long Valley, SD; Sexton Cattle, Ainsworth, IA; and Beckett Ranch, Miller, SD. Together, these firms have several decades of producing Chiangus seedstock that work across diverse environments and production goals. This year's offering consisted of a stout, muscular set of yearling and 18-month-old bulls, along with a beautiful package of open heifers destined for the donor pen. Though developed individually, the cattle fit together very well and offered easy calving, fast-growing, efficient cattle with muscle, eye appeal and carcass quality demanded in today's markets. Thank you to everyone who came out in support of the Holt, Rock, Sexton, and Beckett families!

Kroupa Ranch - M&E Angus hosted their 30th Annual Production Sale, April 9, at the farm, near Kimball, SD. Marvin & Eileen Kroupa, along with their children Michael & Nikki Kroupa, Ann & Jase Clark, and Mary & Cody London offered an excellent set of Angus bulls and commercial Angus first-calf heifer pairs. The Kroupa Ranch was homesteaded in 1882, with 4th, 5th and 6th generation family members active in today's ranch operations. For years, the Kroupa family has selected for problem-free genetics with maternal instinct, fertility, feet and udder quality, and disposition-all while keeping carcass traits in line with industry demands. Non-replacement cattle are fed on the farm, giving Kroupas first-hand knowledge of how their cattle perform in all phases of the beef cycle. The heifer pair offering has become a highlight and leads the sale each year. The calves at side were all 30 days old and sired by Bruns Exclusive 273 and GDAR Coalition 0493. Offered by gate-cut with five or more pairs, the winning bidder took all 40! The bull offering was especially deep and uniform consisting of 64 yearlings and 5 18-month-olds. A notable highlight was 16 sons of M&E Man In Black 1343 - a home-raised son of LAR Man In Black-averaged $9900! The Kroupa auction was fun, fast, strong and STEADY! What a way to celebrate your 30th annual sale!

An extremely deep and uniform offering of stout & rugged Limousin & LimFlex bulls were on display, along with a high-quality package of registered open heifers. The Peterson program is centered around two things...balance & longevity. Cattle must be balanced across all traits-including birth, performance, maternal & carcass. The L7 Bar philosophy is simple...the goal for the cowherd is putting a bull in the sale, or heifer in the replacement pen every year. For over 50 years, the Peterson family has worked to develop a herd of cows that works for them-and not the other way around. A capacity crowd filled the L7 Bar sale facility for fun, fast-paced auction that saw cattle sell into 10 states! Thank you to everyone who attended, bid and bought at the Peterson sale!
