I've been thinking about how often I see requests for real estate agent recommendations on Facebook. So, I wanted to take a moment to share my own story—my journey in finding not just a house, but a home, and the incredible agent who guided us along the way. 🏡✨
Twenty-six years ago, before the internet was part of every home search, my wife, Kerry, and I found ourselves looking for our first home. Can you imagine searching for a home without a the internet in hand? 📞 So, we followed the traditional route and called the real estate agent whose name was on the sign in the yard. That agent was Donna Peachy, Re/Max Realty of Chambersburg, and looking back, that was one of the best decisions we ever made! 🙌
Unfortunately, the home we were first interested in was no longer available, but Donna wasn't discouraged. She welcomed us into her office and began helping us find the right home. After getting pre-approved and going through numerous searches and walkthroughs, we finally reached the point of making an offer on a home. 🏠
That's when Donna introduced us to the importance of a home inspection. "What is that? Is it really worth it?" were our initial questions. 🤔 But with just a bit of persuasion, we agreed to it. The home we were considering was over 20 years old and tenant-occupied, so we thought it was wise to be cautious about such a significant investment.
We met the inspector, Terry Amsley—The OG in the world of home inspections (but that's a story for another time!). 🔍 He walked us through the house, pointing out both the good and the not-so-good aspects of the property. Thanks to Donna's guidance, we negotiated successfully and purchased our very first home. 🥳
Fast forward a few years, and when it came time to buy our second home, we didn't hesitate to reach out to Donna again. This time we were eyeing a newly built home, and once again, she emphasized the importance of getting a home inspection. "It's new; is it really necessary?" we thought. But, you guessed it, we had another inspection—again, Terry was the guy. And this is the house we still call home. ❤️
Over the years, we've purchased six more houses, and each time we've insisted on a home inspection. Each time, Donna was our go-to agent. She didn't just help us buy a house; she ensured we made informed decisions and sought the best outcomes for our family. I have so much to thank Donna for, not just in real estate, but, as you know, she unknowingly opened the door to my career in home inspections. 🔑🏠🔍
The point I really want to make is this: There are fantastic realtors out there who genuinely care about their clients and take their best interests to heart. If you're considering buying or selling, I wholeheartedly encourage you to work with a trusted real estate agent. They can make all the difference and perhaps change your life in more ways than just buying a home. 🌟
