Thinking about real estate (shocker, I know) and how it truly matters who you have in your corner. Regardless of buying or selling, you need someone who feels confident to explore ideas you or the other party may not have considered.
Someone who cares about the outcome, not just the commission check. I’m reflecting back on all of negotiating skills I have gained over the past 17 years. This is outside my real estate career. I have advocated and negotiated everything from healthcare contracts, state employee contracts, ADA accommodations, FMLA, resignations, retirements, first union contracts, wages, etc. So many of my skills that I have learned through almost two decades as a Union Rep/Business Agent have transferred beautifully to my real estate career. I often find myself pouring everything I have in my work in order to get my clients the best deal possible. This doesn’t always mean money. Sometimes it’s additional time to close to wrap up a few personal things on their end, sometimes it’s closing as soon as possible to bring a terminal ill parent home to finish out their days with family, sometimes it‘s emotionally supporting the wife who is desperately trying to find the perfect home (solo) for her family as she anxiously waits for her husband to come home from military leave. There’s times where I am the “bad guy” and put my foot down & not allow someone to walk all over my client. Other times, I’m on the phone for hours listening as a client pours their heart out about why they need to sell their home. No matter what the situation is, once I have determined that I want to work with someone, I don’t stop until we have the best outcome. There’s so much more to closing deals as an agent. To me, it’s about truly representing someone and utilizing every single skill you have to ensure they are well taken care of. I feel so incredibly blessed to be able to do what I love for both my careers. Huge thank you to all of the amazing people on here who have trusted me through the process. 🖤 miigwech🪶
