Always my go to spot when I’m in Shelbyville. Taking a little road trip with my husband who is a Walmart driver and he said to pick up some good snacks so found exactly that at Bits & Pieces! Oatmeal cream pies and southwest chicken salad locally made by Sweet and Savory!
And I grabbed white chocolate mochas and Firehouse Subs…great roadtrip!
Have my to do list ready, being on the road is always a good time to get some work done.

Have you wondered how the 1st Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop compares to Buc-ee’s
Today on the way to an Open House I stopped by to take a look.
Honestly? There really isn’t a comparison, and I don’t think Dolly’s is trying to be Buc-ee’s.

Dolly’s has its own unique Tennessee personality.

First things first… when I saw the sign from a distance, I wasn’t quite sure if I was pulling into a truck stop or a strip club! 😂

The place is still under renovation, but I noticed a few things that stood out. They have a sit-down buffet area, which Buc-ee’s doesn’t have, plus an outdoor seating area with yard games that looked like a fun place to hang out.

Like Buc-ee’s, they have merchandise, jerky, and grab-and-go barbecue options.

Now for the disappointing part…

I was craving a barbecue sandwich, but there weren’t any available. I waited at the counter for a while and couldn’t find anyone to help me, so I ended up grabbing a bologna sandwich instead.

For six dollars, I was expecting something loaded with toppings.

Y’all… it was one piece of bologna on white bread.

Come on, Dolly… you can do better than that! 😂

Even with that, I’d still go back.

I want to check out the buffet, and I’m definitely interested in the ice cream and coffee shop that’s coming soon.

Overall, I think Dolly’s has potential and brings something different to Tennessee.

Now I’m curious…
