🚨🇺🇸 LABOR DAY PARADE & FESTIVAL 🚨 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE 🇺🇸🚨

Labor Day in Chapin is almost here, and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone at the Chapin Labor Day Parade & Festival!

📅 Monday, September 7
🚧 Road closures begin at 9:00 AM
🇺🇸 Parade begins at 9:30 AM

🚧 ROAD CLOSURES
Beginning at 9:00 AM, Chapin Road will be CLOSED from Murray Lindler Road to St. Peter’s Church Road, including all intersections along the parade route.

Please plan accordingly. If you’re coming to the parade, come early and get a prime spot! We’re expecting a great crowd, and arriving early will give you plenty of time to park and get settled before the roads close.

🚗 PARKING
Various parking areas are available throughout town, and Chapin High School will also be available for parking if needed.

👮 Chapin Police Department and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department will have personnel throughout the area assisting with traffic control, pedestrian safety and event security. Please be patient, follow officers’ directions and do not drive around barricades.

Heads up my friends in Chapin if you are traveling from 7:00 PM until 6:00 AM down Columbia Avenue.

🚧 Road Improvements Are Getting Underway! 🚧

The first phase of the S.C. 48 Bypass Project in the Town of Chapin, South Carolina is about to begin… and it all starts with resurfacing Columbia Avenue!

Beginning this Sunday, crews will be resurfacing Columbia Avenue from Lexington Avenue to Redtail Ave/Interstate 26. Work will take place nightly from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM to help minimize disruptions to daytime traffic throughout Chapin.

During these hours, motorists should expect:
🚧 Lane closures with traffic reduced to one lane in several areas.
🚩 Flaggers directing traffic.
⏳ Brief delays as work progresses.

We want to thank SCDOT for their investment in our community and for scheduling this work overnight to lessen the impact on residents, businesses, and visitors! This marks the beginning of a project that will bring long-term improvements to transportation in and around Chapin, and we’re excited to see it get underway.

As you travel through the work zones, please slow down, stay alert, watch for workers and flaggers, and pack your patience.

A few extra minutes can make a big difference in keeping everyone safe.

Minimum starting pay is $50,000 with a $3,000 sign on bonus. Higher starting salary depending on qualifications/experience!

This is for a patrol officer position which means…

12-hour shifts (6am-6pm or 6pm-6am)

Rotating Days to Nights, and Nights to Days each month

Which means a 3-day weekend, every other weekend! (Cops already know this, the schedule is no surprise)
