The Big 28!!
The older you get, the more you find yourself wishing you could be young again. Wishing you were back outside on the playground with a few friends without a care in the world. Like you’d do anything for just one more hour of that.
But then again… when you were there, you couldn’t wait to be 15½ and get your permit. Couldn’t wait to turn 18 and go to college. Couldn’t wait to hit 21 and have your first legal drink.
That’s just the human experience I guess. We always want what we can’t have.
This birthday was a reflective one to say the least. But if anything it reminded me to cherish the moments I have right now. To be present. Because we live in a world where everything is fighting for your attention except the moment you’re actually in.
Master Oogway said it best “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift… that is why they call it the present.”
Be present however you can. Because I promise you, ten years from now you’re going to look back at this exact moment in your life and wish you could have it back.
Don’t wait until then to appreciate it. Because that little guy in this picture? The 28 year old version of him would give anything to be back in that moment, even just for an hour.
