Last year, I was contacted to help a college student find a new apartment because she was having issues finding a decent option close to campus. . I spent time helping her secure a rental, even though the landlord did not offer a commission. I simply wanted to help her find a safe and comfortable place to live.

Fast forward to this year, and her parents reached out to me again. Initially, I assumed they were looking for another rental property. Instead, they were interested in purchasing a downtown Charleston home with a budget of over $1.2 million. We closed on that property today.

The lesson is that you never know where your next opportunity will come from. As Realtors, people come to us because they need guidance and help, and it's important to treat every client with the same level of care and professionalism, regardless of the immediate financial reward. Sometimes your efforts pay off financially, and sometimes they don't—but doing the right thing is always worth it.

Today, I'm grateful to say that helping someone when there was no commission eventually led to a wonderful relationship and a successful closing. It's a great reminder that kindness, hard work, and putting clients first can have a lasting impact.
