NEWS YOU CAN USE! 💡 IN THE MARKET TO BUY A HOME NOW OR IN THE FUTURE? Well! The laws have changed!
On August 17th a REALTOR®️ (which majority of us are and typically required to join these boards that deem us to be REALTORS®️ by our brokerages - Fun fact, right?) WILL NOT BY LAW be able to show you a home unless you have signed an agreement with them.
What does this mean for you? 🤔
Any real estate agent who is a REALTOR®️ must abide by these new laws. Meaning you MUST sign a written Buyer’s Agreement BEFORE touring. So here are suggested steps and strategies:
1. Research the area and have an idea of what you’re looking for, that could be by social media, talking to friends, even asking various SOCIAL forums about THEIR experience in relocating / certain areas, schools, taxes, local government, lifestyle, crime (something we CANNOT discuss).
2. Interview an agent - work with who you like and trust. But remember ☝🏾who you like doesn’t always mean they’re the best fit for the job. Ask for references of past clients, I offer this to any client I work with. Just because someone sells “a lot of homes” doesn’t mean they are the right fit FOR YOU.
3. Make a checklist of what’s most important TO YOU in your home buying experience. Is it efficiency? Is it personal touch and fluff by your REALTOR ®️? Is it experience? Whatever it is, make your WANTS / NEEDS know UPFRONT.
4. The more transparent you are, the better job your REALTOR®️ can do. This will make signing an agreement upfront a lot less painstaking and fearful, because you’ll both be working towards the same goals from the START, with fewer surprises along the way. Make sense?
⚠️ Also, I HIGHLY recommend posting anonymously, UNTIL you’re ready to find your REALTOR®️ so you won’t be bombarded with REALTORS®️ if you’re JUST looking for feedback from locals.
