I'm Shae Taylor, driven by a lifelong passion for helping people create better lives. Growing up, I witnessed my family working tirelessly without rest, impacting their health and my own by my mid-twenties. Recognizing the need for change and life balance, I transitioned from being an elementary school teacher to real estate. This shift has allowed me to break free from limitations, find great joy

and share what I've discovered by bringing my professional skill set and utmost care to numerous families. Now, I assist people in finding their dream house AND lifestyle by identifying the perfect community that aligns with their needs for work, play, and relaxation.

Most people moving to Charleston start with listings. The ones who land well start with the neighborhood.

Downtown Charleston is one of the most architecturally preserved cities in the country, and one of the most strategically misunderstood markets in the Southeast. The peninsula is geographically limited, which means inventory stays constrained and long-term value stays protected. For relocating professionals and families who prioritize environment, walkability, and legacy, Downtown deserves a serious look before you start touring homes.

This post breaks down what you actually need to know:

the market,
the lifestyle,
the schools,
and the honest tradeoffs most agents won’t name.

If you’re relocating to Charleston and want a strategic conversation before you start looking at listings, that’s exactly where I begin.

Dear Mom and Grandma 🤍,

Happy Mother’s Day. There truly aren’t enough words to express how much I love you both. You have shown me what it means to love unconditionally and sacrificially, and you have been two of the strongest pillars in my life. The way you’ve loved, guided, and cared for me has deeply shaped who I am as a woman, a wife, and a daughter of God.

One day, I pray I can be even a fraction as faithful, loving, and wonderful to my future children as you both have been to me throughout my entire life. I carry you both with me everywhere I go. Not a day passes where I don’t think of you or notice pieces of you in me; in the way I speak, laugh, care for others, and encourage people the same way you have always encouraged me.

I’ve had the courage to pursue big and scary things because you both believed in me first, and that gift has continued to guide and strengthen me throughout my life. I want you both to know how deeply admired, appreciated, and loved you are by me every single day.

Love always,
Shae 🤍

There’s a lot more to relocating than simply finding a house.

These are some of the questions I hear most often from buyers moving to Charleston, because where and how you live here can shape your everyday experience in very different ways depending on the lifestyle, commute, schools, pace of life, and long-term goals you’re looking for.

And while I was preparing this home for closing day, I thought it’d be fun to share a few of them.

Every move is different, and the answers are rarely one-size-fits-all. That’s why local guidance matters so much when making a move to the Lowcountry.

From walking as it was being built… to standing in front of it today.

I had the opportunity to be on site over the years while it was still taking shape, through a client who served as the superintendent on the project.

Seeing it now, fully realized, feels like coming full circle.

Charleston has a way of holding onto its stories, and this will always be one of them for me.
