January was the 12th consecutive month that more than 1,000 homes sold in the Lowcountry, according to a monthly report from the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors . Last month, 1,029 homes sold in the region at a median price of $238,900, which is a 6% increase in sales volume and a 9.5% increase in price compared with January 2016.

Here are a few steps to finding your perfect home

1 Know your price range. Get pre-qualified for a loan and only look at houses you know your can afford.
2 A home might not look the same in person that it does online. Ask yourself what draws you to a home other then aesthetics.
3 Don’t make decisions based on first impressions. Get a home inspection done that might show hidden secrets.
4 Ask other to view the home with you. Another person’s perspective could help you avoid falling for the wrong house.
5 Ask plenty of questions. Your agent is there to help you and has the expertise you’ll need.
