Transformation Forum 2026 | Event Highlights

On August 27, the Charleston Housing Authority brought residents, community members, partners, and stakeholders together for the Transformation Forum 2026.

The event created space for meaningful conversations, community engagement, and an opportunity to share the vision for the continued transformation of our communities.

📚FREE ENGLISH CLASSES FOR ADULTS!

The Charleston County School District Family Engagement Center is offering free English classes for adults who live in Charleston County.

Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, from September 29 through November 19, 2026.

📍 Goodwin Elementary School
5501 Dorchester Rd.
North Charleston, SC

Bringing your children? Children ages 4–11 are welcome! Teachers will provide educational activities for children while their parents participate in English classes.

Whether you're looking to improve your English skills, communicate more confidently, or strengthen your opportunities in the community, this is a great opportunity to learn and grow.

The Family Engagement Center, in partnership with Charleston County School District, is excited to invite families to the Motherhead/Fatherhead Book Club!

This family focused program is designed to support parents and help children ages 0–5 build a strong foundation for lifelong learning and literacy.

Families will receive:

Our President & CEO, Nathan Simms Jr., had the honor of speaking with the Burke High School Alumni, ICS and Friends Monthly Luncheon.

During the luncheon, Mr. Simms shared updates on new developments coming to communities where many of the attendees once lived. He also provided insight into how the Housing Authority operates, the programs and resources available to residents, and the work being done to create new opportunities within our communities.

Most importantly, the conversation provided an opportunity to answer questions, listen to the experiences and perspectives of community members, and continue building a strong foundation of trust and partnership.

We are grateful for the invitation and look forward to continuing meaningful conversations that keep our community informed, engaged, and connected.
