Came upon this post from another FB page of mine. I also recently watched her "Goodbye" documentary special. What a phenomenal human being she was, the world is better for having had her in it.

So thrilled to have heard the illustrious Dr. Jane Goodall speak. Her message of environmental awareness was inspiring. She is one of my lifetime idols and was an inspiration for my leaving a full ride scholarship at UALR to work at The Little Rock Zoo in 1974. I proved myself hardy enough and was promoted to head primate keeper. I had 100 monkeys; a macaque island; a chimpanzee island; & just before I went back to college, a baby orangutan named Chelsea. Heady stuff for a 21 year old; truly cherished memories. A City of Little Rock affirmative action initiative is what opened the job opportunity to women. Excellence in action.

My volunteer resume has a new delightful entry, I have finally found the time to put my boundless energy toward Fort Johnson Estates Civic Club. I am proud to say I am now a voting member of the board, have taken the reins of the Welcome Wagon, and am on the committee re-examining our covenants & restrictions to better benefit the old school soul of our wonderful neighborhood.
