Came upon this post from another FB page of mine. I also recently watched her "Goodbye" documentary special. What a phenomenal human being she was, the world is better for having had her in it.

So thrilled to have heard the illustrious Dr. Jane Goodall speak. Her message of environmental awareness was inspiring. She is one of my lifetime idols and was an inspiration for my leaving a full ride scholarship at UALR to work at The Little Rock Zoo in 1974. I proved myself hardy enough and was promoted to head primate keeper. I had 100 monkeys; a macaque island; a chimpanzee island; & just before I went back to college, a baby orangutan named Chelsea. Heady stuff for a 21 year old; truly cherished memories. A City of Little Rock affirmative action initiative is what opened the job opportunity to women. Excellence in action.

My volunteer resume has a new delightful entry, I have finally found the time to put my boundless energy toward Fort Johnson Estates Civic Club. I am proud to say I am now a voting member of the board, have taken the reins of the Welcome Wagon, and am on the committee re-examining our covenants & restrictions to better benefit the old school soul of our wonderful neighborhood. Billionaires doing something… good? With their money? Imagine that!

Michael Bloomberg, former mayor and who used to be just another rich guy in New York like Trump, has pledged that his philanthropy group will cover the costs of the U.S.’s portion of the U.N. climate body's budget, after Trump yet again pulled the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Agreement.

The Paris Climate Agreement is a measure that unites countries all over the world to help slow the impact of the climate crisis, mainly by keeping the overall global temperatures ‘lower than 2°C above pre-industrial levels.’ Climate scientists and research indicate that an average global temperature above that would lead to more catastrophic climate events, like droughts, heatwaves, and more.

According to Reuters, the U.S. funds about 21% of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) budget.

‘We deeply appreciate the generous support from Bloomberg Philanthropies and the leadership shown by Mike Bloomberg,’ U.N. climate chief Simon Stiell said in a statement.
