⚠️ 11:55pm update: After receiving more info from Santee Cooper, we anticipate that a 24-hour water boil advisory will go into effect in the early morning hours of Tuesday for City water customers. The advisory will begin after the repair work on the water line is completed, and that will likely happen between 1 and 3am Tuesday. Santee Cooper will update us when this happens and the advisory begins.
A boil advisory means boiling any water for a minimum of one minute before drinking it or using it to cook.
We will continue to share any updates as we receive them.

⚠️ 10:30pm update from Santee Cooper:
Earlier this evening, a contractor operating heavy equipment near Moncks Corner punctured the main line from the Lake Moultrie Regional Water Plant. The contractor was not working for Santee Cooper. The line serves the water agencies operated by the City of Goose Creek, the City of Summerville Commissioners of Public Works, and portions of Berkeley County.
Santee Cooper crews are at the site assessing the damage and necessary repairs. In the meantime, customers of these agencies are urged to conserve water as much as possible. We will update the public once we have more information.
The Goose Creek, Summerville and Berkeley County agencies serve approximately 200,000 people, and some may notice a drop in water pressure later tonight. Santee Cooper is keeping these agencies informed as our assessment continues. A boil water advisory could be issued later this evening from any or all of the affected agencies.
“This is a large water transmission pipe, and our crews are working as quickly as possible to locate the break and begin the repair work,” said Mike Finissi, Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer. “Our thanks go out to the emergency responders and crews from our Lake Moultrie customer agencies for aiding in this effort.”

⚠️ 8:50pm update:
We are still awaiting word from Santee Cooper on the estimated repair time of a water main break that took place in their main water distribution line earlier Monday.
All water in Goose Creek is safe, and there is no boil advisory at this time. The City has extra water in our elevated tanks if needed while a repair is made.
We are expecting an update soon, and will share any updates as soon as we receive them.
