This month's is a powerhouse agent, mom, and bilingual - speaking English and French! Get to know Louise Cloutier - Maisown, and find out why she says our market center's culture is "a resource in itself."
Q: What is the most challenging part of being an agent in Charlotte right now, and how have you addressed that challenge?
A: The most significant challenge I’ve faced as a new agent is mastering the work-life balance. Transitioning from being a stay-at-home mother to a high-volume (for me), full-time agent was a whirlwind; I didn’t expect to become this busy so quickly! Initially, I lacked the necessary systems to manage both my personal and professional life. To address this, I’ve become much more intentional with my time. I now strictly time-block for my family to ensure they get the best of me, not just what’s left over. Professionally, I am streamlining my business by partnering with a transaction coordinator and building a reliable list of showing agents. These systems allow me to remain focused on my clients' needs while scaling my business sustainably.
Q: What do you think is the greatest asset you bring as an agent to your representation of clients?
A: Without a doubt, it is empathy. Having navigated the buying and selling process myself, I understand how deeply personal and stressful it can be. The relationship between an agent and a client can be the difference between a seamless, enjoyable experience and a logistical nightmare. I pride myself on being a calming presence. I listen closely to my clients' needs and guide them step-by-step through the process, ensuring they feel supported, informed, and confident from the first showing to the closing table.
Q: What resource provided by our market center have you taken advantage of most and why?
A: The Coaching and Training programs have been instrumental to my growth. I truly believe my early success is a direct result of the resources offered by our Market Center. My coach, Sharon Martin, has been an incredible mentor, guiding me through complex scenarios with wisdom and patience. Beyond the formal training, the KW Ballantyne culture is a resource in itself. Whether I need a push during a moment of doubt or technical help with a deal, someone is always there to support me. The energy in our office is contagious; it’s the best place to recharge and refocus.
Q: What’s your morning routine?
A: My day is fueled by discipline and starts at 5:00 AM. I use those early hours for myself—starting with coffee and a quick review of the morning news. After getting my kids settled at school, I hit the gym to clear my head and build energy for the day. By the time I sit down at my desk, I am focused, energized, and ready to hit the ground running for my clients.
Q: What does being 'excellent' mean to you? How have you become an excellent real estate agent?
A: To me, excellence is the ability to achieve holistic success—meeting my professional goals without sacrificing my personal ones. It’s about finding a sustainable balance that allows me to be present for my family and exceptional for my clients. I’m becoming an excellent agent by prioritizing client care above all else. Providing a level of service that makes a client want to refer their friends and family is the ultimate benchmark of excellence.
